2024 AKC Scholarships

Alongside our 2024 Australian Kodály Certificate courses, Kodály Qld will be offering six (6) half scholarships to participants completing an AKC course next year with a total of $5,000 in scholarhips on offer. Please note, all scholarships will be open to current financial Kodály Qld members only.

1. To honour the passing of Gabrielle Emery-Reece earlier this year, we are offering two half scholarships ($700 each) to Kodály Qld members who wish to complete an AKC course. Applicants must be a pre-service teacher or teacher who has never taught classroom music. Applicants must also be more than 150km from Brisbane, living in a regional centre. Applications close on 31 December.
2. Kodály Qld is offering two half scholarships ($700 each), open to any Kodály Qld member who wishes to complete a Kodály Qld AKC course next year. Applications close on 31 December.
3. Kodály Qld is offering two half scholarships ($1,100 each), open to any Kodály Qld member who wishes to complete a Sound Thinking Summer School AKC Level 3 course (Primary or Secondary) in January 2024. Applications close on 20 November, with successful applicants notified on 27 November.

All applicants must write 100-300 words on why they believe they would be the best person to receive this scholarship. Provide details outlining your reasons for nomination, in relation to the selection criteria below. Please address in your own words.

1. Applicant demonstrates ability and willingness to promote the goals and philosophy of Kodály Australia.
2. Applicant’s evidence of recently attended workshops and courses with a Kodály emphasis, and a commitment to continued professional development as a music educator.
3. How will this scholarship allow you to pursue best practice, implementing the skills and knowledge you’ve gained?
4. Why do you believe you are the best candidate to receive this scholarship?
